Instructional materials are used with teaching methods according to the appropriate stage of
development. In this program, we have been utilizing various teaching techniques and material patterns
of teaching methods divided into skills development. (Premsrirat,2015)

Tadika research was adapted from the Patani Malay-Thai MTB-BE program using lesson planning,
teaching methods, and instructional material development. The content is based on the cultural
knowledge and local wisdom of the communities. Furthermore, the instructional materials are selected to
emphasize higher level thinking in Patani Malay language for developing listening and speaking skills - such
as picture stories, listening stories – and for developing reading and writing skills using the big books
written in Jawi and Rumi scripts.

               Methodology
The primary approach of Tadika Cemerlang is the community-based research (CBR) method
supported by National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT). The main idea of CBR is to focus on process
learning and participatory research. The strategy used in CBR emphasizes problem-solving community
participation. The researchers, as well as the research project owners, comprise community members.
They are supported by facilitators from outside the community who offer advice, thus helping them
complete their research. (Laparporn. K, 2018)
The 'Tadika Cemerlang' project, started by the tadika directors, aims to develop language skills and
transfer local knowledge to students. The directors of tadika discussed amongst themselves and invited
other interested parties to cooperate in the project. Afterwards, they met with academic researchers from
Mahidol University and Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus to analyse the problems. Many of the
research problems were raised by the communities themselves and when the project was approved, they
met to clarify details and raise awareness among the communities and stakeholders for solving the
               problems.

The research project participants are from Ban Benaepeenae and Ban Benaebadae communities
in Yarang District, Pattani Province. They comprise community researchers, including academic researchers
from Mahidol University and Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus. In addition, some stakeholders
been brought into the project, such as directors and teachers in Islamic private schools, Islamic students,
and the Office of the Private Education Commission (OPEC) in Yarang district, Pattani province.

The main tools in CBR research include meetings, brainstorming, focus groups, workshops, and
trainings. The research project participants have participated in specifying the issues, collecting data,
making decisions, and taking action by themselves.
In the research project, there are five activities:

                       1) Meeting of community researchers to cooperate to understand the project together.

                       2) Meeting stakeholders to understand the project and build networking for development.

                       3) Workshop for implementing cultural calendar and lesson planning.

                       4) Workshop for production of instructional materials.
                       5) Workshop for training teachers of technic methods.
