through craft techniques tend to be unique and limited. Each product is created by hand, and no two
products are exactly alike. The uniqueness of the production of craft products can add aesthetic value and
the value of art product collections. The selection of suitable materials and the use of the right equipment
are important factors in the success of art products. The material chosen should be in accordance with the
artistic concept of the produced product. The process of continuous learning and training helps the
craftsman or artist develop expertise in craft techniques. This includes a deep understanding of materials,
techniques, and visual arts. Craft techniques are very subjective. Each artist has a unique style and
approach in using craft techniques through a unique craft technique approach that can provide diversity
and uniqueness in art products. Art products produced through craft techniques often have a high
aesthetic value. Art products are often valued for their beauty and originality.

In the context of theatre performances, sets and props made using craft techniques can help create
a special and deep story world. Craft techniques play an important role in creating atmosphere,
highlighting character, and helping the audience engage in the story. Craft techniques become an aspect
that enriches the art world and brings unique and valuable value in performing arts.

Specification Function and Design of Arts Craft for Malaysian Theatre Performance.

The production of craft art products in three selected productions was also researched and indeed
also applied the skills and techniques of craft art in the creation of several sets and props. The Che Yah
Tanjong Malim 2023 Musical Theatre production shows the creation of rubber tree props that apply craft
techniques based on materials such as old newspapers. Rubber tree trunks formed using wire are covered
with old newspapers to form a collage pattern concept that represents rubber tree bark. In addition to the
application of product craft techniques in the production of rubber trees, there is another prop that also
uses newsprint-based materials, namely the ore tray props which are formed entirely from newsprint. The
2023 Mek Mulung Traditional Theatre production is no exception in applying techniques and product craft
skills to the headgear or deer mascot mask formed based on newspaper. Newspaper paper is used to form
the physical shape of the mask to make it lighter and easier to shape. The third theater production also
applied recycled materials based on newspaper in the production of craft props products where props
were produced replicas of elephant decorations which became a symbol in the palace of the King of Siam.
Elephants are raised as a sign of greatness and have a deep implied meaning to the Siamese community
itself. The 2022 Puteri Sa'adong Traditional Theater production also applies the use of newspaper in the
creation of art craft props replicas of elephants in the palace throne. The selection of materials such as
newsprint is made due to the suitability of the nature of newsprint which is easy to form and light. It is
also an option to the use of newsprint because savings or cost reduction can be implemented. The result
with the use of newspaper material indeed gives the appearance of a product that achieves the objective
of creating product craft art in addition to individual abilities or talents that are also required in the
production of a product produced through craft techniques.
