of performance (Roderick as cited in Ahmed & Islam, 2004). The performance shown in Encore Malacca
is perfectly encapsulated using this format of stage. Meanwhile, the audience to stage relationship can
be categorized as surrounded stage. Surrounded stage is where the audience placement is in the middle,
and they are surrounded by the stage. Since this auditorium is in a circular design, this stage seems more
conventional to be utilized. With the technology used, the audience experience 360-degree-view from
their seats. As for the seating arrangement, Encore Malacca also adopted the staggered and non-
staggered seating. The seating arrangement in this auditorium is fixed. The visual quality from the seating
is enhanced by the presence of the rotating platform.
The performance structure at Encore Malacca comprised of six anti-narrative cultural dance
performances. The six anti-narrative performances bring the audience into six different centuries of
history. The clockwise rotating platform helps the audience to enjoy the show from the start until the
end. It also assists the dancers to be ready at their designated position as the show goes on. The most
unexpected element used in the performance is the water feature on stage. This brings the show to a
higher standard which may not be able to achieve by the traditional auditorium.

Stage Audience

The Rainforest Fantasy Putrajaya is held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (Hall A).
This is a multipurpose hall and there is no fixed setting in the hall design. When the show is on, the basic
plan form of the auditorium would be planned as an end stage. The shape of the stage is rectangular, and
the seats are facing the stage. The audience to stage relationship is also categorized as an end stage. The
