understand this new place attachment due to the architectural change of the palace. The paper has
achieved its targeted objectives of understanding Istana Jahar fundamental architectural components and
values of Istana Jahar. It has also successfully investigated the architectural change that took place in Istana
Jahar, architectural functions, and spatiality specifically in its intangible and tangible cultural values
portrayed in the architecture. Ultimately, the paper has elucidated the visible place attachment of Istana
Jahar based on the architectural change which is physically based on the display of artefacts without the
rituals, customs, and traditions. Future research will investigate the intangible cultural values that
characterised Istana Jahar in-depth regarding the philosophy and rituals that influenced spatial planning.
