Table 5 shows the respondents' level of education and the practice of playing traditional Malay,
modern Malay, and non-Malay children’s songs. Most choices for ‘Yes’ are seen for modern Malay songs,
followed by non-Malay songs, and thirdly, traditional Malay songs. All respondents from all levels of
education but not one respondent from the certificate level of education said that they would play
traditional Malay and modern Malay songs to their children. It can also be seen that there were more
responses of ‘No’ from the PhD holders in playing traditional Malay songs to their children.
