5. Discussion and Recommendation
The Orang Asli Batek community in Kuala Koh, Kelantan, possesses a rich and unique traditional
knowledge of architectural practices that have sustained their way of life for generations. These traditional
architectural techniques reflect the community's deep connection with nature and their ability to adapt
to their rainforest environment. This discussion and recommendation report will delve into the traditional
knowledge of home architecture among the Orang Asli Batek and offer recommendations for its
preservation and potential incorporation into modern sustainable design.

                   5.1 Discussion

                       5.1.1 Traditional Architectural Features

The Orang Asli Batek's homes are typically built from natural materials found in the rainforest, including
bamboo, rattan, and leaves. Stilted houses are common, providing protection from floods and wildlife.
Thatched roofs are intricately woven from palm leaves, providing effective protection against the tropical
climate. Open-air designs and large windows allow for natural ventilation and light. Houses are
constructed with minimal environmental impact, ensuring a sustainable lifestyle.
                       5.1.2 Connection to Nature

The architectural knowledge of the Batek is deeply intertwined with their understanding of the forest
ecosystem. They have a strong awareness of the forest's resources and utilize them in an eco-friendly
manner. Traditional structures seamlessly blend with the surrounding environment, showing respect for
nature and maintaining a balanced relationship.

                       5.1.3 Sustainability

Batek homes are a prime example of sustainable architecture, as they are built with materials readily
available in their environment. Their design minimizes the need for external resources, reducing their
ecological footprint. These sustainable practices offer valuable lessons for modern construction
techniques, especially in the context of eco-friendly, low-impact architecture.

                   5.2 Recommendations

                       5.2.1 Documentation and Preservation

Collaborate with the Orang Asli Batek community to document their architectural knowledge through
interviews, photographs, and video recordings. Create a digital archive to preserve their traditional
               architectural wisdom for future generations.
                       5.2.2 Educational Programs

Establish educational programs within the Batek community to pass down their architectural knowledge
to younger generations. Encourage schools and universities to incorporate traditional knowledge into their
curricula, fostering respect for indigenous cultures.

                       5.2.3 Sustainable Design Incorporation
