house is 21 feet. While the width is between 12 feet to 15 feet. But some houses are built larger than the
stated size.
v) Basics of Construction
As explained, the Batek tribe's permanent traditional house has a physical structure and a non-physical
structure. Physical structure is an important aspect because it is the basis of the existence of non-physical
structures. The physical structure consists of columns, beams, beams, floors, doors and walls. Whereas,
the non-physical structure is a complement to the physical structure. It covers the spaces found in the
house such as the living room, main room, bedroom and kitchen.

4.3 Appropriateness of Traditional Knowledge in the Context During House Construction
Haya’ is temporarily built as a form of residential house that suits their semi-nomadic life. Although now
they have a permanent settlement area, temporary Haya’ is still used when hunting and gathering in the
forest if an area is inhabited for more than a day. Haya’ is built in a short period and only uses materials
from the environment.
The form of Haya’ remains constructed after a change in thinking among group members about
the advantages of settled life. This change is based on the awareness of the group members themselves.
In addition, the role of certain parties such as JAKOA, JAKIM, MAIK and other parties have a great influence
on the change in settlement patterns as explained above.
An important aspect of the construction of a residential house is satisfaction for the individual who
will live in the house; including spiritual and physical satisfaction. In building a residential house the
suitability of the following aspects was found to have a strong connection as follows;
