                   • Special Features: Pondok Pesantren Isy Karima, which is situated in Solo, is notable for
emphasizing contemporary building methods, such as the use of brick and cement and modern
                       school setting.
                   • Rationale for Selection: The institution is a fascinating case study for entrepreneurship and
sustainability because of its involvement in sustainable business endeavors like the Resto Sawah

(ii) Pesantren Al Maghfirah Gunung Geulis in Bogor:
                   • Special Features: Situated in Bogor, Pesantren Al Maghfirah Gunung Geulis possesses special
features related to its secluded location and its adoption of the waqf concept in mosque
development. It also showcased a transition from local bamboo and craftsmen to red brick for
                       construction.
                   • Rationale for Selection: The selection of Al Maghfirah was driven by the institution's unique blend
of traditional elements, such as the waqf concept, with modern construction techniques and
materials. The transition from bamboo to red brick construction phases adds depth to the study,
highlighting adaptive practices and economic considerations.

               Data Collection Methodology

               a. Site Visits: The researcher visited each of the chosen Pesantren institutions to have a firsthand
understanding of their surroundings, infrastructure, and physical conditions. These trips gave us a
better understanding of each institution's particular geographic and environmental factors.
               b. Semi-structured interviews with the principals of each Pesantren institution were conducted. The
interview questions were made to obtain details regarding the institution's history, mission,
community involvement strategies, sustainability initiatives, and the impact of local culture and
                   environment on its daily activities.
               c. Observations: Information was gathered through observations both during site visits and interview
sessions. The researcher explored things including the campus's physical setup, environmental
policies, how students interacted with one another and the community, and any obvious indications
                   of sustainability initiatives.

               Research Limitations
