persons. The in-depth interview was conducted on them to achieve data in support of the

questionnaire directed at the Masjid Committee members of Muang District.

                                     The study found that:

                                          1) the wills is one the evidence Therefore law’s Islam was accepted, regard as the
Sunnah for those who has a lot of wealth and his lineage must not be poor. Let him do the wills of

his property to anyone other than the heirs by not more than one-third of total assets.

                                          2) The testators who practiced the wills in Muang District, Satun Province never
obtained proper education concerning the Islamic law of wills. They did it on their own and

wrongly without being based on the religious principle of wills leading to the unjust practice of

the wills and depriving heirs of their inheritance right and, hence, their disagreement.

                                     3) The religious education of some Muslims in Muang District, Satun Province
is lower than thanawiy (secondary level) because they resorted to traditional system of religious

education offered in Masjids and pondok institutes of some areas. They did not study in schools,

universities, other institutes which could confer a standard certificate and so their knowledge and
understanding of wills in Islam is at moderate and lower level because they lacked the detailed

understanding of principle, terms, and elements of wills in Islam which could lead to the right

                       practice of the wills.

                                     4) The problems and obstacles the Muslims in Muang District, Satun Province

faced while they were practically applying the wills in Islam resulted from their lack of correct

understanding of principle, terms, elements, and process in applying the wills in Islam. They

could not differentiate between inheritances and wills. In some areas there is lack of well-

informed persons on the Islamic law of wills, and the Highest Islamic Committee and the Imams

of masjid did not coordinate in drafting rules or regulations of wills in Islam and enforce them to

serve the Muslim community in the area.

                                     5) The way of solving the problems and obstacles is introducing a basic

education of wills in Islam in detail in public and private educational institutes and at all levels,
