connecting Islamic values and traditional Malay wood carving? Thus, the objective of this study is to
identify the correlation connecting Islamic values and traditional Malay wood carving.

Research Methodology

In this study, a qualitative methodology was employed to conduct a critical review of past
researchers’ scholarly materials such as journals, reports, proceedings, and books, for secondary data. This
approach was chosen because previous researchers in this field have commonly employed a similar
methodology. The research began by conducting a comprehensive review of topics on Islamic values
related to traditional Malay wood carving. Finally, the collected data was then analysed using content
analysis, a technique that is effective for processing large amounts of data, as suggested by Flick et al.
(2004). This type of analysis has also been commonly used by past researchers when working with
secondary data.

Furthermore, the content analysis is supported by the Kod Jawi technique (teknik Kod Jawi), which
is a Language Meaning System developed by Mohamed bin Abbas. This technique was created through an
extensive Tadabbur process of the al-Quran (Abdul Latip et al., 2021) spanning over 15 years. Each Kod
Jawi is derived based on the central theme of each surah in the al-Quran, starting from Surah al-Fatihah
(Chapter 1) and concluding with Surah Luqman (Chapter 31). The implementation of Kod Jawi involves:

translate any wording into Bahasa Melayu.

1) next, is to write the Bahasa Melayu wording in Jawi writing.
2) then, refer to the Kod Jawi Table (jadual Kod Jawi) in Table 1 and map each of the alphabet in the
Jawi writing to the Kod Jawi.
3) the Kod Jawi of the word is then arranged according to the syllable to detail up the meaning.
4) Finally, the whole Kod Jawi is arranged in a full sentence to gather the overall detailed meaning of
the word.
