Each level of movement, as arranged in the table above, can be analyzed through Kaeppler's
vertical perspective, which is about how Kinemes (K) combine to become Morphokines (M) and form
Motifs (MF). Kinemes are minimal movements with no meaning consisting of the basic units of the
constructed traditional dance. Morphokines are the minor units for a move in a structure organized into
several movement motifs. A motif is a sequence or arrangement of movements consisting of kinemes and
morphokines that produce a short movement content entity.

THE STRUCTURE OF OFFERINGS THROUGH A HORIZONTAL PERSPECTIVE

Kaeppler (2007) insists that the form of dance or performance structure should be built through
internal unity to clarify the relationship and connection with each other. It has to do with horizontal
structural analysis; that is, the units in the performance structure consist of small units that are arranged
in stages or phases in a performance with the addition of its style.

Referring to some of the structures of the Berjalan dance performance horizontally stated by
Zamzuriah (2022) includes four parts in the pre-performance of Mek Mulung. These parts complement a
Berjalan dance performance through 4 dance structures: the Puteri Mabuk Dance, the Menora Dance, the
Gambang Dance, and the Sendayung Dance in a circle or circle accompanied by music through an
instrumental song without singing or vocals (Refer to Figure 1.0). Each part's movement symbolizes each
part's structure in the Mek Mulung Walking dance.
