ABSTRACT
This writing describes analyzing the performance structure and movement of the Berjalan Dance
in the traditional theater performance of Mek Mulung. Berjalan Dance is a dance performance performed
after a Gerak Timpuh song accompanied by music through an instrumental song without singing or vocals
in the pre-performance part of Mek Mulung. Analysis of the structure of the performance and movement
of this Berjalan Dance involves four elements of dance and instrumental songs found in the prologue,
namely the Puteri Mabuk Dance, the Anak Menora Dance, the Gambang Dance, and the Sendayung Dance,
which are danced in a circle or circle. Each dance displays specific hand and foot movements and is
accompanied by a particular song to achieve the objective of studying the structuring of dance movements
in the art of traditional Mek Mulung theater performance. This research is based on the theoretical
analysis of Dance Structure by Anca Giurchaescu (2001). It is conducted based on Kaeppler's (2001)
approach to dance structure that involves movement and presentation of the entire perspective
horizontally and vertically. Qualitative research design is used in the study with data collection through
case study methods, interviews, participant observation, and document observation. The findings of this
study look at the production of the creative work process and the structuring of dance movements in the
Walking Dance traditional Mek Mulung theater performance.
