                                                          Abstract
It is well known that Malay Archipelago society has made a significant contribution to the Islamic
scientific civilization, especially in the field of Sharia sciences, including: Fiqh, Tafsir, Hadith and
Tasawwuf... But, the contribution of Malay Archipelago scholars’ contribution in the field of Arabic
linguistics is less explored. From this point, the present paper aimed at answering a pivotal question: What
did Malay Archipelago Muslim scholars offer in Arabic linguistic studies, especially in grammar and
morphology? To answer this question, this paper followed a Descriptive Historical approach in reviewing
some of the linguistic literatures produced by scholars from the Malay Archipelago throughout the Islamic
history in Southeast Asia. Among those scholars: Sheikh Ahmad Zain Dahlan, Sheikh Ahmad Zain al-Fatani.
Thus, during this review, it was found that the scholars of the Malay Archipelago have actively contributed
many precious works to Arabic grammar and morphology and had participated in the disseminating and
simplifying Arabic grammar in South-East Asia. Also, this paper found that Sheikh Wan Ahmad represents
the pinnacle of this bid by the Malay Archipelago scholars in Arabic linguistics, with his books that were
crucial to the mastering of the Arabic grammar and morphology to local learners.
