2018). I argue that conventional sentiment analysis methods fall short in capturing the nuanced and
multifaceted nature of political discussions online. By employing the innovative approach outlined in this
section, I aim to shed light on the underlying themes that drive digital social contentious.
In this article I employs an innovative methodological approach to analyse political discourse in the digital
age. Our research seeks to understand key thematic discussions within this context by utilizing
correlational analysis. This study is case specific and uses the sample from virtual ethnography (Carter,
2018). I argue that conventional sentiment analysis methods fall short in capturing the nuanced and
multifaceted nature of political discussions online. By employing the innovative approach outlined in this
section, I aim to shed light on the underlying themes that drive digital social contentious.
The advent of digital technologies and the proliferation of social media platforms have
transformed the landscape of political communication. In this dynamic environment, understanding the
key themes and patterns of political discourse is crucial for researchers, policymakers, and society at
large, especially when we try to comprehend the concept of “budi” in the chaos of ideas. Conventional
approaches such as sentiment analysis have been widely used to assess the positivity, neutrality, or
negativity of digital discourse. While sentiment analysis provides valuable insights, it often falls short in
capturing the intricate nuances and multifaceted nature of social contentious.
In this methodology section, I present an innovative approach that combines correlational
analysis with virtual ethnography to unravel the underlying themes of the social contentious in the digital
age. Virtual ethnography allows us to immerse ourselves in the online political landscape, capturing the
rich contextual information that may be missed by automated sentiment analysis algorithms. By applying
correlational analysis to this ethnographic data, we can identify meaningful connections and patterns
among the various themes that emerge. As the primary objective of this research is to gain a
comprehensive understanding of the key themes driving the concepts “budi” in the social contentious, I
aim to move beyond simplistic sentiment analysis and explore the complex interactions and relationships
among different themes within words-network relationship in the contentious scenario.
Sample
The sample for this study is drawn from virtual ethnography. Virtual ethnography involves the
observation and analysis of digital spaces where political discourse occurs, such as social media platforms,
online forums, and blogs. The advantage of virtual ethnography is that it allows us to engage with the
discourse in its natural context, capturing the depth and breadth of discussions as they unfold in real-
time.
To create our sample, I employ a purposeful sampling technique to select relevant online issues
where the contentious discussions are prominent. In this case I am focusing on the case of a local TV-
station censoring / blurring the chest of Michell Yeoh in the news clip of she is receiving the grammy
awards. This is a very specific, yet unique case of issues where involves diverse range of sources and
perspectives to ensure a broad representation of topics including religion, tradition, racial and political
views.
Data Collection and Processing
Data collection involves the systematic gathering of textual content from the selected online
platforms, which is facebook. The content includes text-based posts and comments. The data was
