This study designed a conceptual framework that was evaluated through a pilot study. In Emunah’s
               Integrated Five Phases Model, we selected the main activities in each phase: (a) interactive dramatic play;
               (b) developing theatrical (and fictional) scene work; (c) role-playing dealing with personal situations; (d)
exploring core life themes; (e) dramatic ritual related to the closure. As for Igal, we chose a few basic
movements that are suitable for PwDA using wheelchairs and playing with the activities chosen in
Emunah’s Model of Dramatherapy. The research applied the Heuristics approach analysis. Applying
heuristics, analysis was done through observations of the participants and volunteers, interviews, and
recording as well as reading materials were also applied to collect data.

               Methodology
This paper proposes an alternative process of therapeutic for People with Different Abilities
(PwDA) disabled drama, dance, movement, and music. Thus, to obtain related data, the study applied a
focus group approach has used a qualitative study method by making the study a significant extension in
addition to the journals, articles, and related publications. Using a qualitative method, this study applied
a focus group approach through interviews, observations, and participation in the process designed. Data
was also collected through reading material focusing on the keywords of the study (Performing Arts,
Dramatherapy, Disability, Depression, Bajau’s Igal, Ritual performance). The study referred to Emunah’s
Integrative Five Phase Model to apply some of the essential techniques that fused with Igal’s basic
movements and music. Therefore, the research is based on an experimental work by the PwDA (17
persons), dance instructors (3 persons), and a drama instructor (2 persons) as well as volunteers (theatre
and dance students) (20 persons) who participated in the process

This study applies heuristics as a reflection method of the process of the alternative process.
“…Heuristics is a passionate and discerning personal involvement in problem-solving, an effort to know
the essence of some aspect of life through the internal pathways of the self.” (Douglas & Moustakas, 1985,
               p. 39). Heuristics is related to reflection which is a crucial cognitive practice in the research field. Reflexivity
is largely practiced in qualitative research, where it is used to legitimate and validate research procedures
(Mortari, 2015). There are many discourses on the main philosophical approaches to reflection:
pragmatistic, critical, hermeneutic, and phenomenological. This study applies heuristics as a reflection
method of the process of alternative process of therapeutic. Douglas and Moustakas (1985) described
heuristics as the poly-conceptual core of human science. Moustakas (1990) developed this research poly-
concept into a six-phase outline for research that is applied in this study: 1) Initial Engagement; 2)
Immersion; 3) Incubation; 4) Illumination Explication; and 5) Explication of Understanding and Insights -
reflective examination of the meanings of themes, the description of distinctive qualities of the
experiences; and 6) Creative Synthesis (which is complete in the form of this document). (Mortari, 2015)

Application of Heuristic in the Pilot Study

               Phase 1: Initial Engagement
A sustained focus and concentration on the project of self-investigation includes the strategies of
deep and systematic introspection. The perceptual, emotional, and cognitive details are brought out
through this process. Self-dialogue about the topic is experienced. (Moustakas, 1990) (O’Beirne, 2014).
