research, intellectual skills, and creative ideas in the field of local wisdom are essential for the
construction and formation of an optimistic, humane, and healthy society. Therefore, this
conference aims to provide a conducive and knowledgeable environment to foster international
dialogue and initiate strategic social networking to promote, maintain and strengthen the
development and sustainability of the local wisdom of the Malay Archipelago at the national
               and global level.

This conference aims to strengthen research, innovation, and publication areas as a basis
for all researchers to discuss their respective research results pertaining to local wisdom. In
general, local wisdom is the knowledge acquired through a series of activities by a group of
people in a specific region or place. The knowledge was passed on verbally from one generation
to generation. Local wisdom is formed by the influences of local cultures, religions,
socioeconomic activities, natural sources, and climate. Knowledge from local wisdom at times is
manifested in the inventions of artefacts and architecture that complement local needs. For
example, the people living in Malay Archipelago also has its local wisdom inherited from their
older generation. The traditional Malay house design, for instance, fits the climate of this region
which is tropical that is often identified as hot and humid due to its position near the Equator.
Hence, appropriate housing design is required to allow ample ventilation to reduce temperature
and humidity. Fortunately, the Malay ancestors understood the local climate, resulting in the
construction of a climatic control house design.
